Christiania | Copenhagen

5 months has passed and I am back to blogging!

No words can excuse me for neglecting my dot com (actually there's tonnes of excuses, which will be written as blog entries following this). Felt responsible to continue what I've started that never finished - the unfinished Copenhagen photo stream from the previous post that boasted photos of the Wood Wood store in central Copenhagen. On the third day of my trip to Copenhagen last October, the family and I decided to be a little more adventurous - we rented a bicycle and roamed through the town filled with other cyclists towards Christiania - the "slums" of Copenhagen - a pretty rad place you can't find elsewhere on Earth.

Beginning from town centre, passed a stunning architecture.

Almost symmetrically perfect

Danish architecture, don't we all love it?

Much needed refreshments after an hour of pedalling

Arrived at the Freetown Christiania! Where Hakuna Matata is the purpose in life + weed.
The Wikipedia definition of Christiania - a self-proclaimed autonomous neighbourhood of 850 residents in the borough of Christianshavn in the Danish capital of Copenhagen.

One of the houses owned by the Christiania residents

Taken directly from Wikipedia, "The people in Christiania have developed their own set of rules, independent of the Danish government. The rules forbid stealing, violence, guns, knives, bulletproof vests, hard drugs, and bikers' colours" (but joints are welcomed!)

Ordered fish of the day - excellent! Fresh and cooked to perfection.

Wood Wood | Copenhagen

For all street wear and Wood Wood lovers! Here's a post dedicated to you all. I've been browsing Wood Wood's items online for a while now, since the Danish brand doesn't have a branch in the UK. The shop has some really decent stuff (a little overpriced though) and while I was in Copenhagen on a holiday few months ago, I popped by the store in central to have a look at their items. Happy touring!

The store was huge, not outlet-huge huge, with several spacious display sections

Amazing collection of items from top to toe. Adore the Nordic and patterns.

Other brands were also available in store like Kenzo and Comme de Garçons

They stock a range of other women stuff too including accessories

The fitting room, doors in a simple geometric design.

Where all the little goodies are at, where I hang out most.
Took me almost an hour to view most of the items in store.

Got a little hungry after window shopping at Wood Wood?
Treat yourself to some yummy cupcakes nearby by Agnes Cupcakes :)
Go for the raspberry flavour! Comes with coffee at reasonable price.

Now that its approaching Christmas, London is all getting warmed up for the shopping frenzy.
Especially in sample sales and outlets, that's where all the goodies at!

Queued up for an hour outside the Londonnewcastle Project Space for the Folk Sample Sale on Friday,
and let me warn ya, the queue was long with over 200 people! Participating brands were Universal
Works, Oliver Spencer and YMC mainly. The bargains I found there can't be found anywhere else,
prices were slashed up to 80% off!

My shopping of the week | Nine West Pancho 3, YMC jersey sweat, YMC suede desert boots,
Aubin & Wills dunbar hat.

...and more to come!
No wonder November and December is when people can't afford to leave their jobs.

Copenhagen | Trails of Attractions

It's finally up. The second post I promised over a month ago on my trip to Copenhagen in the summer.
Once again, all photos were taken with the Fujifilm X100.

Here's the start of the attraction trailing, beginning with Langelinie.

Took a bus down to Langelinie, a famous tourist stop over to a famous attraction

by Sculptor Edvard Eriksen

I was told that people from all over travel across the ocean to visit the mermaid sculpture
The story behind this was nothing fascinating unfortunately and does not live up to the hype
(from what I read on Wikipedia). Rather disappointed.

Walked past a beautiful landscaped garden by the pier in Langelinie

I must say this is quite a beautiful and lavish fountain - Gefion Foutain

It was a short walk towards the inner city where I stopped by the Marble Church in Frederiksgade

They call it the Marmorkirken

Amalie Garden on the Waterfront at Amaliehaven

I watched the change of guards at the Amalienborg palace just around the corner and I thought it was
nothing spectacular, like all other change of guards. Needless for photos.
Just imagine the London guards with their tall furry hats, but in blue uniform.

Strutting like I could fall over but I didn't

Danish people love their art and structures don't they

Finally arrived at the popular destination - Nyhavn

Where all the Copenhagen postcard's all about
Colours of the paint look so vivid like miniature display models

This place really is busy, packed with tourists looking for the best restaurants along the canal
Food isn't too expensive, around the average of £10-15 per platter. Quite a wonderful experience
if accompanied with sunshine and street musicians.

The trail topped off with a canal boat ride passing the Royal Danish Playhouse

Trailing continues in the upcoming post.
